Painting Prices

New Price Schedule
as of 7/1/09
  • Micro Minis:  $40 (flat price, any color, includes prepping)
  • Stablemates:  $75
  • Little Bits/Pebbles:  $125
  • Larger Sizes:  $200  Only available by special arrangements.  I can only take hollow cast Traditional sized resins and prepped Breyers or Stones.

Please note that these prices are BASE prices on prepped models.  In other words, they are for a basic, solid color with the usual white markings (legs, face).  Details such as paint markings, apps, dappling, etc. will be added on to the basic price.  Each piece will be quoted on an individual basis, depending on the amount of work that needs to be done.

Painting is done using mostly artist's acrylic airbrush colors.  Occasionally, I'll use some colored pencils and pastels.  Models are coated in several layers of Kryon matte or flat finish (customer's preference).

I am also offering hairing, priced on an individual basis.  Models do not need to come "hair prepped".  I can do that for you and the cost will be figured into the overall hairing price.

Prepping Prices

  • Traditional: $40.00 (*Eberls & rough castings - $50.00 & up)
  • Classic:  $35.00
  • Little Bit:  $30.00
  • Stablemate:  $25.00
  • Micro Minis:  $10.00 (for those to be painted by another artist - my painting price includes prepping).

Prices include (in addition to the regular stuff) minor epoxy repairs such as ears and/or eartips, incomplete cast areas such as manes, tails, feathers, muzzles, etc.

For a small additional fee, I will also add stallion, gelding or mare parts.  Email me for a quote on your specific model.

I am also offering a limited number of hair preps.  This includes removing the forelock and mane and either cutting down the existing tail for hairing or removing it and adding a wire/epoxy tail "bone".  Pricing for this will be done on an individual basis since manes and tails vary a lot from model to model.

If you are having me prep for another painter to finish, I offer a choice of either Krylon Sandable Primer or Painter's Touch primer in any of the colors currently available (usually gray, white and rust).  I will gladly use whatever brand or color the artist prefers.  If a special finish is desired (such as airbrushed gesso over primer or a different primer), a small additional fee will be incurred so please email me for specifics.

*Rough or raw castings will incur extra charges due to the extra time, work and materials involved.  A photo or good description of the rough (such as Eberl's) or raw casting will be needed in order to give an accurate quote.

Stripping Prices

Sometimes a model needs stripping before it can be re-prepped and painted.  Since the work involved will depend on the type and age of paint initially used to paint the model, stripping pricing will be done on an individual piece basis.  Only those models painted in recent years in acrylics will be considered.

Policies

Buyer to pay shipping both ways.  Insuring your model is MANDATORY for  models larger than SM size.  SM size and under is optional.

PAYMENT:  Unlike other artists, I don't require up-front payments or deposits.  Payment in full is due when the model is completed, whether it be just prep work or painting.  I can let you know when your model is nearing completion if you need to get funds ready.

After notification that your model is done, you have 30 mailing days to get payment IN FULL to me.  If you need to make time payments or some other arrangement, let me know ASAP!  I'll do my best to work out a payment arrangement with you.  You want your model and I want to get paid.  If no other arrangments have been made within the 30 days and payment is not received or you do not stick to the agreed upon payment arrangements, I reserve the right to keep the model.

I simply cannot make any guarantees as to how quickly I can get your model done.  I work at my own, weird pace and there are usually 5-7 models on my painting table at a time.  Sometimes a model really "speaks" to me and work progresses quickly.  Others seem to be more of a challenge and work goes slower.  You can email me at any time to find out how your model progresses (if I don't write to you first).  You can also request pictures at any time and I'll do my best to get a shot or two off to you.  But please don't make a pest of yourself.  The more time I have to spend on the computer is less time spent working in the studio.

Payment Methods

Money orders and cashier's checks are wonderful; personal checks are not.  Absolutely no personal checks accepted.  Sorry.  I've been zinged too many times.

Even though I'd rather not, I *will* take PayPal through special arrangments.  I absolutely hate their fee structure (even on personal accounts) and must charge you extra to recover their hefty fees.  The extra I will need to charge you will vary depending on how much your total is.

Also, while I hate shipping out of the country (except to Canada) and generally won't do it, I will occasionally take on an order from out of the US to hobbyists with at least two reliable US references and an impeccable record with the MHHR (or they get the "green light" from an inquiry on the MHHR).

That about does it for now.  If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to add it!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
